As a student, I know we’ve been through rough times. Home works,
projects, research papers, and essays toppled in our tables plus the unending
quizzes, deadlines and examinations on the next day and the days after. You
stare at a blank ceiling, thinking what to do first or where you should start.
Your mind tells you to start doing your school works and review for the
examinations, but your body says no. Hence, stress starts to creep in.
I myself
are stressing over a bunch of school works and given only a few days to review
for quarterly examinations. But this I tell you: stress is inevitable. Here are
some ways on how to deal with it.
1.
Relax
“How can we relax if we’re stressing over
lacking of time of doing school works?” I know this is a bit ironic but trust me, this
helps A LOT. Take enough sleep, drink a lot of water and make time for yourself
to enjoy the things you want to do. Don’t occupy your mind with different and
lots of things.
2.
Time Management
It’s
always important to manage your time. Determine your priorities in order for
you to know which to accomplish first. You can make a list on what you will do
on a given time.
3.
Get Motivated
Motivation
is the most important tip that you should keep in mind. Being motivated keeps
you going. Having it also gives you a reason to forget about being stressed and
focus more on what you do and what you need to finish.
4.
Limit Caffeine/Alcohol
When
exams are getting close, coffee is my companion through sleepless nights
reviewing my notes. According to a site adaa.org, caffeine and alcohol
aggravate anxiety and trigger panic attacks.
5.
Have someone to talk to
Having
someone to talk to is another way to deal with stress. You can contact your
friends, open up to them, and tell them what you’re going through and maybe
they will help you out.
6.
Do not Focus Things all at
the Same Time
Never
think many things at the same time. This only keeps you away from pulling off
your goals. Focus things one at a time.
7.
Don’t Skip Meals
Skipping
meal can indeed save you more time. It gives you more time to study. However,
you might think again. Having a healthy, and well-balanced meal can help your
brain function well. Feeding yourself is a great way to relieve stress as well.
8.
Have fun!
There are instances that you
still feel stress even after taking the exams. A good way to diminish the amount
of stress that you are feeling is to have fun with your favorite hobby. Have a
trip with your friends or family, read a book, watch movies, or go somewhere
where you can have space for yourself.
These
tips are some of the ways on how I deal with the stress I am experiencing. If
you have some tips or your own ways on how to deal with it yourself, let me
know through writing a comment down below and together we conquer exam stress
or any kind of stress.
Stress
is inevitable but it can be dealt with.
