Best Apps for Bloggers - Composing & Publishing Blogs

Best Apps for Bloggers - Composing & Publishing Blogs

When I started blogging, I didn't really pay attention to the phone apps that I can use to have access to my blog without using a laptop or desktop computer. But, after I published my first blog post, my laptop broke and there are few chances that it will be recovered. Hence, I need to use something to keep track and to still update on my blog without a computer, and my phone being my last resort.
Best Apps for Bloggers - Composing & Publishing Blogs

I tried researching some apps that I could use on my phone to compose or publish my blog. However, most of the sites I searched didn't really work for me that much.

I made this post for bloggers who want to have more access with their blog posts, where to compose there drafts, and publish it on their blogs without the use of their desktop computer or laptop. There might be some instances when you have no access to your computers and the only attainable device you have is your smartphone.

Apps for Composing Blog Posts

I made a list of Apps where you can compose your drafts--one is for iOS users, one for Android and Windows phone users, and one does not need to download because it's already pre-installed.

• Pages
This is a word processing app where you can construct documents and reports. If you write drafts offline or you're simply into writing into word processing software first, then, for you, this app works like a charm. The only thing that I don't like about this is that the words are far away (iPhone) while you use this (or maybe I don't possibly know how to make the letters zoomed in and fit on the screen). It's only a minor problem and not something that would prevent you from downloading the app.

The display on this app is very well-arranged. The documents are listed in a thumbnail manner and has a small display of the file itself which it makes it easier and quicker to locate the files that you are looking for especially when you compose a lot of files.

The app also supports iCloud. So if you have a ton of apple devices, then the documents are updated especially when you edit or update a document, the additional info or changes you made on that document immediately applies to all your devices. This feature needs an internet connection to work.

One more thing you should know is that Pages is only available in Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It's free and pre-installed in newly-released Apple devices but paid in older iPhone devices.

• Microsoft Word
The benefit you get from Microsoft Word is that it is available in every device you have--may it be Android, Windows, or iOS. Microsoft word can be installed in every store you have on your phone. This is probably its advantage compared to Pages.

The app works the same as the Pages. It's a word processing app where you can compose your drafts or articles. If you are more used into Microsoft offices, then this might be the perfect fit for you.

I guess the only downside of this app is that you have to pay for a premium version but the free version is OK since you only use the app for composing articles and nothing more advanced and sophisticated. But if you want to get the premium version, then nobody's stopping you from doing it.

Microsoft Word has its own version of "iCloud" called the OneDrive. To make it simple, it works like iCloud and can be accessed throughout your devices who supports OneDrive and has Microsoft Word which is very helpful. You don't need to copy things or transfer files from a device to another. This also needs internet connection to work as well.

• Notes App
If you're like, "Nah, I'm not interested with this apps" after reading my first two suggestions, then the Notes app is for you.

The notes app is a pre-installed application, again, in the iOS devices. If you want to save some storage, or you are not interested in installing the two applications that I first mentioned, then you should probably be contented in the Notes app.

It's simple and nothing too complicated. You just type the content of your blog post then you're okay to go. The thing is, again, it saves you some storage, and gives no hassle because you don't have to install applications anymore.

Publishing Blog Posts

I mentioned two applications on which I sometimes use when publishing blog posts--one is a paid app, and the other one is free. Unfortunately, these applications are only made available for iOS devices.

• Blogo
Let's start with the free app (because who doesn't want free stuff?).
Blogo is a simple, powerful blog publisher which gives you the capability of publishing a blog post using only your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

I installed it a week ago on my iPhone because it is in the Best New App section in the App Store and it is gold. When I say gold, I mean it's awesome and something you should check out because I will be using it for a long time.

However, I only use Blogo in making drafts and not publishing it straight away.

Blogo supports Wordpress, Medium, and Blogger which is where my blog was hosted from. It's not too hard to use and you just have to play with it for a bit and you're good to go.

The app doesn't only publish posts, but also gives you the option to publish pages which is a million thumbs up.

Blogo keeps your blogs organize especially when you have a lot of blogs.

A factor that you must consider is that it's not completely free.
You have to pay for the Pro version which gives you the full functionality of the app.

If you're interested in using Blogo check out their website.

• BlogGo
No, this is not a typo error, it's really BlogGo. I know it has a bit of similarity with its name compared to Blogo, but both are different in their own ways.

BlogGo is a paid app and costs $0.99 in the app store. This is the app on which I used.

BlogGo is a simple app. However, I had high hopes when I bought the app. Or to make it more simple, the app didn't really meet my expectations.

The advantage of this is that you pay the app once. Once you paid for the $0.99, there are no more Pro features and you immediately get the full access of the app, no more in-app purchases.

My only rant about this app is that whenever I save a draft containing photos, it takes time for the process of saving to finish.

Overall, the app is still worth purchasing, but I would most likely recommend for you to use the free version of the Blogo.

• Wordpress
If you use Wordpress to host your blog, then the Wordpress app is the right app for you. Same function as the previous two apps I mentioned. With this app, you can view your blog's stats and even monitor the comments on your blog.

Moreover, may it be that your blog is a wordpress.com or self-hosted wordpress.org site, you can easily access them through this app and it is very convenient especially if you are a very busy person who only have short breaks scrolling through your phone. With this app, you can fully monitor your blog with your smartphone.

Be sure to check out all apps to see which work best in your taste. These apps are what I recommend if you're a blogger like I do (and rely most of the time with your iPhone).
